Slavery and human trafficking statement
Respect for human rights is a founding principle of Local Solar System. We do not tolerate forced labour, slavery or human trafficking anywhere in our work.

About Local Solar System
The Local Solar System Foundation (“LSS”, “we”) is a humanity-run project on planet Earth, organised as a DAO. It helps our planet through awareness, research explainers and free education, across four initiatives described on our initiatives page. We are working to form a non-profit legal entity for the project.
Our supply chain
Our activities are mostly online. Our supply chain is small and consists mainly of:
- hosting, software and online services;
- independent contractors and staff who build and run the project, under written agreements;
- services such as translation, design, compliance and legal advice.
If the optional merchandise module is ever enabled, physical goods will be fulfilled by a third-party provider, and that provider will be held to the same standards.
Our policies
Our ethical framework establishes respect for human rights as a fundamental principle. Its conflicts of interest policy explicitly prohibits forced, compulsory and child labour. These rules apply to everyone who takes part in the project, and we expect the same of our suppliers.
What we do
In proportion to our size, we:
- choose suppliers carefully, preferring established providers that publish their own human-rights and modern-slavery commitments;
- include expectations in agreements with contractors and suppliers, prohibiting forced labour, slavery, servitude and human trafficking;
- investigate promptly any claim or sign that a supplier may be involved in such practices, and end the relationship where it is confirmed;
- keep a reporting route open to anyone, inside or outside the project.
Reporting a concern
Anyone, including contributors and suppliers, can raise a concern openly or anonymously. Contact us and mark your message “Confidential: human rights concern”. Concerns are handled by the Council in strict confidence. We will investigate and act, and report the outcome to the Council.
Review
This statement will be reviewed at least once a year and whenever our activities change significantly, for example when a legal entity is formed or merchandise is introduced.
