Every unit in the Treasury is someone’s gift. Sustainability, for us, means making each one go as far as it possibly can.

Everyone taking part in Local Solar System has a role to play in living up to this commitment in their daily work. People who coordinate others, such as Council members, stewards and editors, have a special responsibility to make sure the commitment is understood and followed.
Work done once, shared openly, used many times.
In practice this means:
- Spend carefully. Every unit in the Treasury is a donor’s gift. We choose the option that delivers the most for the mission, not the most comfortable one.
- Build light. Our website and learning platform are designed to be fast on low-end phones and slow connections. Lighter pages use less energy and reach more people.
- Prefer digital to physical. We avoid printed material and travel where an online alternative works as well.
- Share openly. Content licensed for reuse means work is done once and used many times.
